Race Update offers short pieces on subjects related to race, ethnicity and equality in UK History Higher Education (from reviewing publications to events and initiatives), on a bi-monthly basis. It is aimed at those actively engaged in race equality work, for example, professional services staff, postgraduate students, academics.
The updates will include appraisals of reports, identifying core strategies, key examples and case studies – cutting through the jargon. It will provide summaries on new developments in the field, ranging from recent to more established literature. The blogs will offer both a synopsis of each output and an analysis, which is designed to assist staff and students to assess the relevance of any item for their own work. It is dedicated to race and equality issues and will be accompanied by a regularly updated bibliography to get insights on, and to stay abreast of, anti-racist activity in university-based History.
It offers collective resources to bring together BME staff and students and white allies in the history sector through analysis on key topics and issues. Race Update can be accessed as blog posts filed under the category “Race Update” on the RHS Historical Transactions blog and also as an email briefing.
